JOB SUMMARY
This position requires the individual to apply foundational technical knowledge and any prior experience to support project startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities. The role is also responsible for assisting in field engineering, programming, graphics development, and closeout documentation for assigned projects.
The position requires a basic to proficient level of computer skills and an understanding of computer-operated systems. The individual will work closely with the Project Manager and assigned project Software Specialist to support the timely and successful completion of each project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with startup and commissioning activities of control systems designed and programmed by Level 2 and Level 3 Systems Software Engineers
- Perform and validate initial system point-to-point commissioning activities
- Assist higher-level Systems Software Engineers with commissioning and troubleshooting of local and wide area networks
- Support utilization of computer hardware and software for pre-functional testing of system software code in accordance with design sequences of operation
- Support final system functional testing as required by the project team
- Initiate and track project checkout documentation and as-built conditions for submission to the assigned Project Manager
- Manage time and cost budgets for assigned project tasks as delegated by the Project Manager or higher-level Software Specialist
- Communicate effectively with project team members regarding issues, obstacles, field conditions, and information needs
- Submit daily and/or weekly summary work reports to project leadership
- Manage weekly time allocations across multiple projects and submit timesheets on schedule
- Practice safe work habits and participate in office and project-specific safety programs
- Attend and successfully complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training
- Take personal responsibility for completion of assigned training and development plans
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Entry-level position requiring a minimum of a High School Diploma
- Electronics and/or basic IT background preferred; strong mechanical aptitude and technical school training desired
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems, and file structures
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking and web navigation preferred
- Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet project schedules
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned tasks, and operate autonomously
- Valid California driver’s license required
