Senior Payroll Transformation Lead

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Transformation & ADP Workforce Now Lead to help stabilize an Oracle-to-ADP Workforce Now integration and payroll migration. This individual will step into a fast-moving environment and work across Payroll, People & Culture, Accounting, and Technology to resolve immediate issues while establishing the processes, documentation, controls, and roadmap needed for long-term success.

This is a highly hands-on role requiring someone who can move seamlessly between payroll execution, data analysis, system troubleshooting, project management, and executive communication. The immediate priority will be identifying and resolving current payroll, data integrity, and integration issues while ensuring the payroll function continues to operate effectively.

In parallel, this individual will help develop a comprehensive plan for a broader global rollout in the second half of the year, partnering closely with the Controller, Accounting leadership, Payroll, P&C, and Technology teams.

The ideal candidate combines deep payroll expertise with strong ADP Workforce Now knowledge and payroll transformation experience. This person must be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and operating in the day-to-day while also bringing structure and strategic direction to the overall program.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Stabilization & Execution

  • Quickly assess the current state of payroll operations and the Oracle-to-ADP Workforce Now migration.
  • Identify and triage immediate payroll execution, system, integration, and data integrity issues.
  • Provide hands-on support to a lean payroll team during the stabilization period.
  • Support payroll processing and execution as needed to ensure accurate and timely payroll.
  • Conduct detailed root-cause analysis of payroll discrepancies, data issues, and system failures.
  • Establish clear priorities for critical issues and drive them through resolution.

ADP Workforce Now & Integration

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for ADP Workforce Now, particularly within payroll operations and implementation/migration environments.
  • Partner with Technology and functional teams to troubleshoot migration feeds, interfaces, integrations, and data movement between Oracle, ADP, and related systems.
  • Identify gaps in current configurations, workflows, controls, and integrations.
  • Validate payroll and employee data to improve accuracy and integrity throughout the migration.
  • Translate technical integration issues into clear business impacts for Payroll, Accounting, P&C, and executive stakeholders.

Payroll Transformation & Process Improvement

  • Perform a deep analysis of current payroll processes, workflows, controls, and pain points.
  • Document current-state and future-state payroll processes.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve payroll operations.
  • Establish repeatable processes, controls, procedures, and operating documentation.
  • Develop training materials and knowledge-transfer plans for the existing payroll team.
  • Train and coach team members to ensure the organization can successfully operate the new environment after the engagement.

Project & Program Management

  • Create and maintain a detailed stabilization and migration plan with clear priorities, owners, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
  • Implement disciplined tracking for payroll issues, system defects, decisions, and action items.
  • Coordinate work across Payroll, P&C, Accounting, Finance, Technology, and external partners.
  • Establish appropriate governance and communication cadences for the migration.
  • Provide concise executive-level reporting on progress, risks, decisions, and areas requiring escalation.
  • Balance immediate issue resolution with longer-term transformation priorities.

Global Payroll Roadmap

  • Partner closely with the Controller and Accounting leadership to develop the roadmap for the next phase of the ADP rollout.
  • Assess requirements and dependencies for U.S. and Canadian payroll operations, with consideration for future international expansion.
  • Identify lessons learned from the current implementation and incorporate them into the global rollout strategy.
  • Help establish scalable payroll processes, controls, governance, and documentation that can support additional countries and employee populations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience, ideally including payroll transformation, implementation, or migration initiatives.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now, including payroll processing and system implementation, migration, or stabilization.
  • Experience supporting or leading payroll system integrations and troubleshooting payroll data feeds.
  • Strong understanding of payroll controls, data integrity, reconciliations, and payroll execution.
  • Experience working with U.S. and Canadian payroll strongly preferred; global or international payroll experience is a significant plus.
  • Experience with Oracle or an Oracle-to-ADP migration is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed root-cause analysis and resolve complex payroll and system issues.
  • Strong project/program management capabilities, including milestone management, issue tracking, risk management, and executive reporting.
  • Experience developing payroll process documentation, SOPs, controls, and training materials.
  • Ability to work effectively across Payroll, HR/P&C, Accounting, Finance, and Technology organizations.
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and tactically in a lean, fast-paced environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate is a payroll subject matter expert who is also a strong operator and transformation leader. They are comfortable stepping into an environment with active issues, quickly determining what is going wrong, establishing structure, and driving problems to resolution.

They will not simply provide recommendations from the sidelines. This individual should be willing to work directly in the payroll process, troubleshoot data and system issues, support payroll execution, and train the existing team.

At the same time, they must have the executive presence and project leadership skills to communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and build a scalable roadmap for the organization's next phase of payroll transformation.
