Python Azure Integration Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Python Developer to support the modernization of an enterprise integration platform. The team builds and maintains services that connect operational systems with ERP, HCM, IT service-management and external partner platforms.

The organization is migrating its integration environment from MuleSoft to Microsoft Azure. The new platform uses Python-based Azure Functions running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), supported by Azure API Management, Service Bus, Key Vault and SQL Server.

This developer will either add new functionality to existing integration services or rebuild MuleSoft integrations in Python and Azure through production cutover.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python Azure Functions that expose RESTful endpoints and process Azure Service Bus messages.
• Build and enhance enterprise integration services following established development patterns.
• Create new SQL Server tables, APIs, data-processing logic and ID-allocation capabilities.
• Develop reliable application logic that maintains accuracy under concurrent usage.
• Manage application configuration and secrets through Azure Key Vault.
• Analyze existing MuleSoft integrations, including data mappings, lookup tables, business rules and schedules.
• Rebuild MuleSoft integrations in Python while maintaining consistent behavior for downstream systems.
• Write unit and integration tests as part of the development lifecycle.
• Maintain technical documentation and create operational runbooks.
• Run new services in parallel with legacy integrations, migrate consumers and support the retirement of old services.
• Collaborate with database, platform and project teams to coordinate database changes, API registration, deployments and production releases.
• Submit code through merge requests and support automated deployments through GitLab CI/CD.

Required Qualifications

• 2–5 years of professional software-development experience.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and enterprise integration services.
• Experience building and supporting serverless applications using Python-based Azure Functions.
• Experience with Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage, Key Vault and Entra ID.
• Experience connecting Python applications to relational databases.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized application development.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices.
• Ability to read and understand existing integration code and reimplement its functionality.
• Understanding of cloud security, monitoring, logging and performance optimization.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL Server, SQLAlchemy or pyodbc.
• Experience with Azure API Management and Application Insights.
• Exposure to Azure Kubernetes Service or similar Kubernetes platforms.
• Experience with GitLab CI and pytest.
• Experience with MuleSoft 4, including DataWeave, RAML and integration flows.
• Previous experience migrating integrations between platforms.
• Exposure to ERP or HCM integrations, including JD Edwards or Oracle Fusion HCM.
• Understanding of enterprise messaging and asynchronous integration patterns.
