Product Owner

DAY TO DAY:

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner (PO) for our healthcare client who has a very exciting new product launch happening. This person is hired to support the transition from a legacy platform to a new development platform launching in November. This person will take a fully designed product (with wireframes completed in Figma), break down existing epics into detailed user stories, write and refine those stories, hand them off to the development team, facilitate team reviews, and guide execution through the Agile process. This initiative involves handling PHI (Protected Health Information) in a regulated healthcare environment, requiring strict data controls and development within approved environments. In this position you will own product delivery from design through implementation and post-launch support, break down pre-defined epics (created in Figma) into detailed user stories, and write clear user stories and define acceptance criteria using Jira and Confluence . This individual will also manage and prioritize the product backlog, including backlog grooming and partner daily with developers (front-end, back-end, QA) to ensure clarity and delivery. The PO will lead sprint planning, story refinement, and team reviews within Agile/Scrum framework, ensure proper handling of carry-over stories and QA-related tickets within sprints, and collaborate with stakeholders and manage competing priorities and conflicts.

Day-to-Day Environment

  • Brand-new product team building a full-stack web application 
  • Front-end: React 
  • Back-end: Laravel 
  • Database: MySQL (multi-tenant architecture) 
  • Supporting major U.S. healthcare insurance providers 
  • Team structure: ~20 people (FE, BE, QA, UI) + 1 Scrum Master 
  • Timeline: ~8 months to go-live, followed by ongoing support + work after
