People Operations Partner (HR & Talent)
Location: NYC preferred (Williamsburg office). Boston area (Office in Salem) also works
Work Model: Flexible Hybrid (not in-office daily)
Compensation: $130k–$160k base
Overview
We are hiring a People Operations Partner to support both Talent Acquisition and core HR operations. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone who enjoys doing the work and building practical structure as they go.
Hiring needs are real but not consistently high-volume, so this role blends approximately 60% recruiting and 40% HR generalist work, with flexibility to jump into other people-related needs as they arise.
This role is ideal for someone who has seen HR done the “right way” in a corporate environment, but thrives in a startup setting where things aren’t perfectly defined.
What This Role Owns
Talent Acquisition (approximately 60%)
- Own end-to-end recruiting for active roles
- Source candidates, screen resumes, run initial calls, and coordinate interviews
- Adjust recruiting effort as hiring volume changes
- Partner with hiring managers to keep processes moving
HR & People Operations (approximately 40%)
- Draft, update, and maintain HR policies and documentation
- Support onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
- Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers
- Help ensure HR fundamentals are built cleanly and practically
General Execution
- Act as a point-and-shoot operator across people initiatives
- Take on work that may not be fully defined yet
- Help add structure without over-engineering
- Be comfortable getting hands dirty across different areas of HR
What We’re Looking For
- A true executor, not a purely strategic HR leader
- Background in corporate HR with exposure to multiple HR functions
- Comfortable writing policies and operating without heavy process
- Startup mindset with corporate discipline
- Practical, adaptable, and flexible with scope
- Comfortable owning work independently
Ideal Background
- Experience as an HR Generalist, People Ops Specialist, or similar role
- Some Talent Acquisition experience as part of the job
- Comfortable working in environments where priorities shift
- Looking for a role focused on doing, not managing a large team
Why This Role Exists
- Hiring volume has been less predictable than initially planned
- Previous candidates were too senior for the actual day-to-day work
- This role exists to execute, support, and build the foundation, not overcomplicate it
