Microsoft Fabric Architect
Remote | 6-Month Contract + Extensions | W2
I'm working with one of our banking clients that's building out a brand-new data team to support a large-scale modernization initiative. They're adding four new positions to help build a modern data warehouse for their credit organization, and this Microsoft Fabric Architect will play a key role in shaping the platform from the ground up.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the architecture and configuration of Microsoft Fabric in an enterprise environment
- Design and configure Fabric workspaces, security, governance, and best practices
- Help build a modern data warehouse using Microsoft Fabric
- Work with data from APIs, SFTP, databases, and other enterprise data sources
- Develop and support Spark notebooks and data pipelines
- Create technical standards, documentation, and implementation guides
- Mentor the existing team and help establish long-term platform strategy
- Partner closely with data engineers and architects on a brand-new enterprise data platform
What they're looking for
- 10+ years of data experience with recent Microsoft Fabric architecture experience
- Strong hands-on experience configuring Microsoft Fabric (workspaces, security, governance)
- Background in data engineering or database development before moving into architecture
- Experience working in a regulated industry (banking, healthcare, insurance, government, etc.)
- Experience with Spark notebooks
- Experience integrating data from APIs, SFTP, and databases
- Comfortable creating standards, documentation, and mentoring technical teams
Nice to have
- Synapse to Fabric migration experience
- Banking or financial services background
Additional details
- Fully remote (working East Coast hours)
- 6-month contract with strong extension potential
- Team is targeting a September 1 start
- Opportunity to help build a new enterprise data platform from the beginning
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both hands-on architecture and helping shape best practices as a new Microsoft Fabric environment is being built.
