Utility Maintenance Mechanic / Facilities Maintenance Technician
Position Overview
We’re seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support a modern pharmaceutical research and laboratory facility. This is a newer, well-maintained single-building environment with a broad range of mechanical and building systems.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with HVAC, mechanical, facilities maintenance, or building automation experience who enjoys troubleshooting across multiple systems rather than specializing in one narrow trade.
The position is expected to transition to permanent employment for the right candidate after an initial contract period.
What You’ll Work On
- Chillers, boilers and air handlers
- Pumps, motors, fans and control valves
- Air compressors and vacuum pumps
- VAVs and building HVAC equipment
- DI water, RO filtration and UV systems
- BMS/building automation systems
- Preventive maintenance: filters, belts, bearings, lubrication, etc.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting using a voltmeter
- Fuses, motors, coils and electrical components
- CMMS/work-order documentation
- General mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
What We’re Looking For
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
- HVAC or commercial facilities maintenance experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable performing basic electrical diagnostics
- Experience with commercial or industrial building equipment
- Ability to independently determine why equipment isn't operating correctly
- BMS/building automation experience is a major plus
- CMMS experience preferred; specific platform not required
- Pharmaceutical/lab experience helpful, but not required
- EPA certification helpful, but not required
- Trade school or formal technical training can offset fewer years of experience
