Role Overview
The Project Specialist oversees the technical side of commercial electronic security projects. This person supports project execution through system engineering, programming, configuration, troubleshooting, commissioning, and technical project coordination.
This is not a people-management role. Rather than leading a team of technicians, the Project Specialist acts as the technical resource between the Project Manager, technicians, customers, and operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical execution of access control, CCTV, intrusion, and integrated security projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and system designs.
- Engineer, program, configure, test, and commission security systems.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and system integration issues.
- Support Project Managers with technical planning, equipment requirements, and project execution.
- Coordinate with technicians, customers, vendors, and manufacturers on technical requirements.
- Assist with product selection, material planning, and system compatibility.
- Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and project records.
- Ensure systems meet project specifications and applicable ADA, NEC, and NFPA standards.
