REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience: 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with a track record of owning services in
Production.
• Multiple Languages: Demonstrated ability to work fluently across multiple programming languages and frameworks,
and to choose the right one for a given problem rather than defaulting to a single stack.
• Strong Schema Systems Experience: Deep, hands-on experience designing schemas for complex, evolving datasets
— including versioning, validation, and backward-compatibility strategy.
• Database Frameworks: Practical experience working across more than one type of database (e.g., relational,
document, key-value) and knowing the tradeoffs between them.
• Distributed Systems: Comfortable designing and reasoning about service boundaries, contracts, and failure modes in a
microservices environment.
• Docker: Hands-on experience building, running, and debugging containerized services.
• High Agency: You take ownership of problems end-to-end, make decisions with incomplete information, and don't
wait to be told what to do.
•Clearance & Citizenship: Required due to CUI and ITAR data handling. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret
clearance is preferred.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Schema Registry Experience: Direct experience with schema registries (e.g., Apicurio, Confluent Schema Registry)
and CI/CD-driven schema validation pipelines.• Document Database Experience: Hands-on experience with document databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB, or
similar, including replication and conflict resolution.
• Military/Army Experience: Prior active-duty or reserve service in the U.S. Army, with firsthand experience operating
within military units and mission environments.
• Defense Tech Background: Prior technical work within defense tech, the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), or directly
supporting DoD units.
• Active Clearance: Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
• Early-Stage Experience: Comfort operating with significant autonomy, minimal process, and evolving priorities in a
startup building from the ground up.
