MUST:
- minimum 5-7 years as a medical/individual underwriter (need experience with life)
- need life insurance underwriting experience (not supplemental health)
- knows medical underwriting work benches and knows electronic workflows
- approval limit/signing authority of $300,000 or higher (they go up to 2 million)
- can review application, can review medical information, make a decision (i.e. height and weight, medical conditions like diabetes)
- analyze risk, review records, understand what long term vs short term risk vs life claim- know the differences
- ability to recommend a declination for senior underwriter to review
PLUS:

DAY TO DAY:
Our client, a highly reputable life insurance firm is seeking a Medical Underwriter to join their team. This role will be focused on medical/individual underwriting within life insurance. We are seeking someone who knows medical underwriting work benches and workflows, is strong with signing authority of at minimum $300k and above, and has experience reviewing applications. This person will review medical information to make decisions on a daily basis. This person will look at applications, request for requirements, and recommend declinations. The pipeline could consist of 50-70 applications per day and around 80-90% of these are life policies with a few disability applications sprinkled in. This will be a contractor role to help the team get through busy season which could last a little over 4 months. This role is hybrid in Philadelphia, PA, and our client is willing to teach and train on their specific systems and technologies.
