Duties

● Point of contact for assisting APA pilots in the support and plan of action for
psychological distress or mental health issues.
● Provides assessment, brief solution-focused counseling, referral and follow up
services.
● Ability to differentiate between a situational and developmental crisis while promoting
safety and emotional stability for a pilot or their family members in need.
● Researches, analyzes, and makes internal referrals to APA committees or departments
and external referrals to counselors.
● Works closely with APA committees, APA Medical/STSAP Department, Benefits
Department, and Legal Department regarding pilot mental health issues, and other
offices dealing with related issues.
● Works across all departments and committees in order to support and provide
resolution for pilots as they navigate psychological distress, as well as the process of
returning to flying status.
● Fields calls and emails from APA pilots, ensuring an understanding of the issue or
concern, and then implements an effective course of action to ensure a timely resolution.
