CTO

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, for a Chief Technology Officer reporting

directly to the CEO. This person will own the technical vision, architecture, and execution of a

platform that touches every dollar moving through a franchise business — card transactions,

lending, payments, and AI-powered financial operations.

Our largest project for 2026 is building an AI enabled accounting service and suite for the US

Franchise industry. This sector spends $6 Billion annually on accounting services which are

provided to them manually and predominantly by offshore labor. Our segment receives stale

data and doesn’t understand the true financial performance of their multi unit portfolios in

reasonable periods of time delays. Solving this for the US Franchise sector only expands our

roadmap to solving similar pain for other sectors.

What You'll Do

● Own the end-to-end technology strategy, systems architecture, and product roadmap

across Exponent's platform.

● Architect and deliver our AI-powered Financial Operations Platform: automated

bookkeeping with real-time reconciliation, AI transaction categorization, tax filing

automation, and T+0 financial dashboards that give franchise operators instant visibility

into business performance across every location.

● Build and refine our proprietary data flywheel — integrating card transaction data

(SKU-level spend visibility), lending data (balance sheets, cash flows, tax returns), and

ERP/POS data into a unified intelligence layer that powers automated credit decisioning,

dynamic underwriting models, and predictive cash flow analytics.

● Design and deploy machine learning models for real-time transaction classification,

anomaly detection, credit risk scoring, and financial forecasting — leveraging the

proprietary dataset created by Exponent's integrated platform to build underwriting

capabilities no standalone lender can replicate.

● Own the technical execution of our loan origination and servicing platform, including

digital deal rooms, multi-party workflow automation, and API-ready underwriting

infrastructure that eliminates 20-40 hours of manual process per transaction.

● Drive product and UX decisions with conviction. You care deeply about how things look,

how they feel, and whether they actually solve problems for multi-location operators who

don't have time for complexity.

● Communicate technical complexity, development timelines, architectural tradeoffs, and

product roadmap decisions clearly to all stakeholders — from engineers, to investors, to

franchise operators, to lending partners — adapting depth and framing to each

audience.

● Make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions across the stack, including evaluating potential

technology acquisitions and integration of external platforms and teams.

● Establish and maintain security, compliance, and data governance standards appropriate

for a regulated financial services platform (SOC 2, PCI, data privacy).

● Lead and scale the engineering team — today a group of high-output group of engineers

— into a world-class product and engineering organization as the company grows.
