Project Engineer
The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of assigned construction projects by overseeing key administrative, contractual, financial, and technical functions. This role works closely with and reports to the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in daily project operations, including cost tracking, quantity take-offs, scheduling, expediting, and safety coordination.
- Perform constructability reviews of design documents and identify potential issues or efficiencies.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules as directed.
- Support the preparation and management of project estimates, budgets, cost codes, revisions, and cash flow projections.
- Review and analyze changes to contract documents, including Owner Change Order Requests (CORs) and Subcontractor Change Orders (SCOs).
- Assist with cost reporting, final cost forecasting, and participate in monthly project review meetings.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager on detailed bid analysis to ensure accurate scope coverage and cost alignment.
- Help prepare subcontractor Schedules of Values and monthly owner pay applications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Project Engineer in commercial construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management software (Viewpoint or similar), and scheduling tools (Primavera or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of construction management principles, including safety, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, cost control, and procurement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and evaluate project data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities, initiative, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support projects from preconstruction through closeout.
