This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tech Lead – Data Engineer who wants to combine hands-on technical work with meaningful leadership and purpose-driven projects. You’ll lead small engineering teams (2–5 people), own solution design and architecture, and work closely with clients to deliver scalable, secure, and future-ready data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project engineering teams, define architecture, and develop data lakes and scalable data pipelines using Databricks and Azure (AWS or GCP experience also valued).
- Design and implement medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) supporting analytics, reporting, and machine learning use cases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders to translate business goals into effective data solutions.
- Build and optimize data models and pipelines for performance, maintainability, and security.
- Apply DevOps and engineering best practices including CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and automation.
- Uphold best practices in data governance, privacy, and access control.
- Support delivery across complex programs, aligning technical strategy with milestones.
- Act as a go-to expert for data engineering standards and technical problem-solving.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering with proven technical leadership responsibilities.
- Deep expertise with Azure and Databricks (or similar platforms), including Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience building robust, production-grade data pipelines.
- Solid understanding of modern data architecture patterns, including medallion architecture and BI frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Data Factory, and Key Vault.
- Familiarity with MLflow or similar tools.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- High degree of independence, accountability, and ownership.
- Prior consulting experience or healthcare-related data work is a plus.
